Aside from the physical force of the disturbance and the changes in temperature, what other factors would affect these organisms found on coral reefs. Could factors such as the re-suspension of sediments and the increase of available substrate influence their ecology?

The re-suspension of sediments may affect motile invertebrates but for a short term. It is important to know the intensity of forces involved in their environment during a typhoon. More than that it must be correlated the re-suspension of sediments rate with it. Also the changes of the temperature influence the chemistry of different compounds.

@Stefan Would you have any idea in what way the re-suspension of the sediments would affect the invertebrates? I know that burial of the organisms is more of a physical effect, what about physiological?
The burial of the organism may induce the decreasing of oxygen in the body. For a short term is hard to find significant physiological modification. See what modification can do the decreasing oxygen in the body.
