As given in the below screenshot of a state load dispatch center real time data, there are some ICT loadings showing negative active/reactive power load. What does this signify? Thanks in advance.
Lagging power factor is where current lags behind the voltage curve, meaning that the load is inductive (current flow through an inductor is gradually increasing, if you apply a voltage starting from zero current). This is the usual case. Heavy loads on power grids are normally inductive, such as electric motors.
Leading power factor would be the case of capacitive loads, where current flows before the load voltage builds up.
