I am puzzled in choosing of variables as factor and as co variate during multiple logistic regression (MLR) analysis. Can anyone please assist me with example? Is it always necessary to give value level as 0 and 1 in dichotomous variables for MLR? Which will get 0 and which variable will get 1? I am actually very much confused.
Rajat -- SPSS requires that you treat "factors" -- which are categorical variables, and "covariates," which are continuous, differently. You can use whatever values you want for you nominal variables, just be aware that the lower value will be used as the comparison group, so be mindful of that when interpreting your coefficients.

I agree with William, however a clarification is neceesary. A covariate can take on any distribution, not only continuous.
