The TTX is a toxic substance, which is not available for us at a current moment, but I'd like to check several variations of monocular deprivation and need a managed way to turn off ganglion cell activity to compare it with lid suturing and eye enucleation.

if you want something similar to TTX you can try to use lidocaine. Similarly to TTX, also lidocaine is a Na-channel blocker.

Do I understand right that lidocaine should be injected into the vitreous body permanently to have similar effect?
I never tried to inject in the vitreous body any kind of molecules since I do not work in the field. However, lidocaine switch off action potential firing in neurons, and tipically is used as local anesthetic. In principle, using lidocaine you can obtain a TTX similar effect. On the other hand, you have to manage with the kinetic of the molecule.
