I fabricated some P3HT:PCBM polymer solar cells with a graphene electrode, but the device is shorted. The device configuration is: graphene/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PCBM/Al. I have gold nano particles on graphene. Before the aluminium contact, I applied silver ink for better electrical conductivity. But every time, the device is shorted. I am requesting some advice how to avoid the short and make the working devices.
Instead of Silver paint, you can use aluminum foil it will also give you better electrical conductivity, even-though it is shorting means may be some other reason would be there.
I think it is due to pin hole structure and due to high deposition rate of aluminum, it will penetrate into the pin holes of the active layer and get shorted.
Do one thing during Al deposition ..... keep initial rate of deposition very slow and then increase it slowly. I am sure it will help you.
It is due to fabrication defaults, so that anode and cathode are touching each other. May be due to presence of very thin polymer layer.
