i have a stock solution of 500 milli molar ebselen in 100% DMSo. now i want to keep the final conc of DMSO to 0.1% , keeping in mind that the final conc of the drug (ebselen), is taken to be 1 micro moles. how to do the maths? plz suggest
you have a 500 mM abselen in DMSO and want to get to 0.1% DMSO hence 1000x dilution: 1uL of your drug in 999uL of buffer. At the same time your drug will be diluted 1000x which means you end up having 0.5 mM or 500 uM conc. of abselen. Now you have to perform another dilution of 500x, but this time you have to use a buffer with already 0.1% DMSO. After the 2 dilutions you'll have a 1uM solution which means you have 1 micromole per ml in 0.1 % DMSO.
