I have just read this wonderful research paper, PhD by publications. I believe this can change the way we study and get the degrees. What is your view on PhD by publications? what are top institutes which provide phd by publications?
Hi Muhammad, It exists in many universities also where I am studying. If you want to pursue that, you have to be very precise and good in defending your paper, as it is the only thing that you have in your hands. The paper can be even a literature review or part of your studies, however, as I perceive, it's better to have a complete thesis because of its value and contribution to knowledge.
Elmira Naghi Ganji Thank you so much for your feedback & valuable response. I am perusing regular PhD, However due to my experience of working in corporate sector, I have written 3 research papers on the same top/problem statement. I was thinking, if getting a PhD based a publication is easy, I will got for one. If you can share with me more details, It would be a great help. May be university site link or specific information. I will also try to explore it on university site. Thank you again for your response.
You're welcome, I just checked and as per my university regulations: "This route to PhD is open to current contracted members of staff of the University and those who hold a formal honorary position in connection with the University."
PhD by publications is a good idea for researchers in fields like Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research organization, Tea research foundations in Kenya. These research institutions have staff who have done research and published for many years. This will ensure that the staff members don;t migrate to Universities in order to attain PhD. They can get their PhD wherever they are.
I don't know of any university in Kenya which offers this type. Some universities of PhD through research only.
