i modelling a steel tube in abaqus and i want to investigate its flexural behavior upto the final fracture. The loading rate that i have applied is very slow and earlier i was using j-c model for my steel to model fracture but it is taking much computational time. so now i am looking forward to use another model for steel to model my above problem. can anyone suggest what models i can use ?

It depends on type of structural member (beam or beam - column). Specify the type of member and select the appropriate element that can closely represent the behavior of the member.

do you want to have crack propagation or you only need to spot the fracture initiations?
the answer to the above question is vital because if you want to have propagation step too, then you need coupled DFCs like j-c. If you only care about the fracture initiations you may use uncoupled DFCs which are far more simpler that j-c and GTN.

I am modeling a Concrete filled steel tube beam and i am testing it under 4 point bending test. I need to spot the fracture initiation but it would be better if i get the crack propagation.
And my problem is not a high strain rate problem.... so model that dont take care the effect of strain rate will also work for me. i just want to have the damage parameters for mild steel i.e plastic-strain, Stress-triaxiality for Quasi-static loading.
