Using animal/human antibiotics is reported to increase antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the long run. My research has also identified that exposure to antibiotics increases AMR. If alternatives are available, antibiotics use should be avoided.
The use of bactericidal products based on copper by spray application is a practice widely used for more than two decades for the bacterial citrus canker control. The prolonged exposure of bacterial strains to copper has led to the rise of resistant strains in endemic areas.
