What are the reasons for the occurrence of synchronous cancers and any differences between synchronous and single carcinoma?

Recently I have seen litreature with the appreance of term synchronous cancers-i like to know reasons for its appreance and differences witht the solitary carcinoma mainly histopathological and response to the treatment and patients prognosis
