that is an interesting question, but I am afraid that there is no definitive answer, as it depends on your budget.
First, if you call an NMR equipment your own, there is usually software available from the manufacturer. However, in some cases there is no such free software and you have to buy it.
Worldwide, I would guess are TopSpin by Bruker and Mestrelab Mnova the most current NMR platforms. We use them both and I cannot see a huge difference. They are both very functional and quick. Both companies offer trial versions, so you can check them.
Finally it depends on your budget and negociations with the suppliers which one you can get cheaper. Good luck.
..there is not THE answer...it very much depends on what you want to do with the software. Just processing (fourier transform, window function, phasing...this essentially can do any software), or automated interpretation and quantification? How many users do you have? Is GMP of relevance? ....and so forth.
I know this is not a very clear-cut answer, but the question you posed is also not very specific....
I have used all of the software with the exception of SpinWorks and they each have their good and bad points. The good news is that you can get limited time licenses for all of the paid versions and try them to see which ones best fit you needs (and your pocket!). Note that if you are wishing to process NUS data from a particular instrument, you will need to check whether the software supports it.
MestraNova is easy to learn and has a good user-interface. It is good for daily NMR-use. For example, you measured a 1H 1D, 13C 1D COSY and HSQC or so. Such data are convenient to analyze with MNova. If you have 3D spectra MNova is not suited. And if you have large spectra or many spectra that you want to analyze simultaneously than I would choose TopSpin.
About other software I cannot comment, because I have no experience.
I had a chance to use Topspin when I was in the University of Oxford a decade ago. It is really a powerful tool. However, I did not get a chance to try out other software.
