Alpha- Fe2O3 is a good catalytic property material. This can be used for transesterification of vegetable oil. This material is easily recoverable after biodiesel synthesis due to its having magnetic property. Biodiesel can be purified well easily by applying this kind of catalyst.

Most of the catalysts are derived from chemical ingredients. some waste materials containing catalytic property materials like CaO, SiO2. These kind of catalysts have environment friendly as well as economically cheaper.

Alpha-Fe2O3 has having photocatalytic property but less magnetic property. It cannot be separated by external magnetic field. But gama -Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 have high magnetic as well as catalytic property. these can be easily separated from the reaction mixture by magnetic field.
