I have to write an cause and effect essay about too much attention to social life. I have to mention about unsuccesful students who are showing too much attention to their social life. I looked google articles and news but I couldn't find any academic writings about this topic. Hope you can help me.
It depends on the question how do you define "social life" - a life of mutually shared experience in face-to-face-situations can't be dangerous - of course, without so-called "social medias" like Facebook, without online- or mobile-communication.Try it!
If Social Life denotes involvement in different Social Media (Like Facebook, WhatsApp etc.), it has definitely negative impact on getting concentration in the studies and also for losing study time in Social Media activities by the students. Some other related factors also play very important roles. The Video games and Porno sites.
All of these act as some means of strong addiction like those of the narcotic drugs to the students, particularly the teenagers.

There is a concern and some evidence that the effects may be very long-lasting, perhaps even permanent. For an undergraduate students, one of the main things that must be learned is how to balance school work, social life, and sleep. This lesson is very important for after they graduate and are employed professionally.
The students who learn this lesson go on to great success. The students who do not, go on to fail, both in school and after they graduate.
Social life among professionals are an avenue to establish network. Students may also take this as an advantage, however they should know how to discern. Character is not built overnight.
Social life in the broad sense can mean our sense of being connected to other people and to society as a whole. The network of relationships we are in such as the family, relatives, friends, classmates, schoolmates, church fellows, neighbors defines the scope of our social life. We are constantly engaged in a process of interaction with anyone in these categories. The degree of our interaction varies upon whether we are physically and emotionally close or distant from them. If these same individuals are in our social media circle then the virtual interaction is still part of the socialization process. For students, such network of relationships is advantageous because it serves as a system of support that can provide inputs such as knowledge, ideas, advice, material help, and many more. This will also imply a lot of involvement in affairs of the family or community, invitations to group activities and so on. This will also impose an expectation to reciprocate, so the students can feel being obliged to offer time and perhaps extend assistance. It is in this aspect that balance should be observed. Students need to be guided how to put such relationships into an advantage of their studies and future life. On a long term perspective, they need to consider that the people in their network can have contribution in their future career. Hence, positive regard has to be maintained.
I think defining ang identifying the possible intensity of time spent in social life until it causes negative effects to a persons personal goals would be more ideal to tackle rather than attemting to correlate the rate of time spent in social life to personal success.
