Yes, there are very general databases as well as a great number of more specific. International and national.

To guide you towards the most relevant one needs to know more about your interests.

I would rather suggest the following - if you are associated to any university (as a student, teacher, researcher) you should contact university library. Staff there conduct no research by their own, but usually is very competent in guiding students and scholars. You will learn there which databases are available for you (which are subscribed).

In short - a visit to your university library is a very good beginning.

Hi Aziz, For conferences, maybe look up major societies and look at vita's of people who you admire. Where do they regularly present? For example, I'm in Psychology and while APA is probably the biggest conference for the whole field, very few experts in my branch of Psychology present there. Among people who study Developmental Psychology, SRCD is the big conference. And if you study infants, the International Society for Infant Studies draws the most presentations within that sub-discipline. The most popular journal articles databases for social sciences probably include: Sociological Abstracts, PsychINFO, & ERIC. Most university libraries organize databases by subject so you might check yours. Best wishes starting your career! - Maddie
