Ppy:DBS (Pyrrol : dodecylbenzenesulfonate ) film is not properly depositing on stainless steel surface. The surface area is 1.086 cm2 and I use 1.086 mA of current during 240 s of time for the polymerization process. Ppy/DBS concentration is 0.1 M & 0.05 M respectively. Expected film thickness is 1µm.
316 grade stainless steel would be more effective and the degree of surface smoothness should be considered
according to my experience, PPy is the worst conductive polymer you can choose. It is inhomogeneous (no clean 1,4-linkages), does not have clear oxidation states, unstable. Moreover, when using DBS, you create an easily water dispersible polymer, this is why it won't deposit on the steel. Apart from that, don't you oxidize the steel by using electropolymerisation? What potential did you use? Why do you want deposit on steel, and why 1 µm?
