Solar energy is an inexhaustible source of energy with the most potential as it will continue to produce solar power as long as the sun is there. Solar energy is totally free, widely available, produces no pollution, no emission and no noise which means generating solar power produces no carbon footprint. Among all the renewable energy sources available on Earth, solar energy is one of the most widely used renewable source of energy.
Solar energy has wide array of uses. It can be used to produce electricity, to run calculators, swimming pool heating, solar oven or solar cooker. Solar energy can now also be used to fly planes. This technology is however in its initial stage
the only and main limitation of using the solar energy systems is its cost of installation.
that's the only challenge for using such system.
The challenges for using solar energy as a source:
1. The solar energy is not available all the days and times, for this reason many reasearchs now days focussing on integrate hybrid systems to harvest solar energy with another type of renewable energy like wind energy or RF energy.
2. Some countries it is not suitable for harvesting solar energy which it most time of year are raining or cloudy ..and the summer session is short and not enough to save the power during for the upcoming sessions .. for this reason the researcher focusing on power management to save the energy during harvesting it and using it when they need to use it.
From my view point I don't think that its costly comparing to the amount of electricity that can be saved.
