My main motivation is that I feel happy when I contribute in my field with a research item. This feeling helps me keeping on producing new research items.
Firstly the personal will to teach in the society, then comes the financial support so that the University Teacher is prevented from bribing and corruption. Regards
What are the factors that motivate university teachers to continue teaching?
Passion to share knowledge / experience.
Passion to interact with students & see them grow.
While teaching can learn from students especially part-time adults with vast working experience.
While teaching can conduct research & publish articles e.g. can conduct research related to teaching, teachers, students etc., students can serve as research samples / participants to collect data, teachers then can share what they'd learned from their research that can further convince their teaching.
Some teachers might view teaching as mundane duty / stable job so that they can have more time with family activities, pursuing personal hobbies etc.
First, the personal satisfaction I get when I am struggling to reach a set of students in my course and they suddenly have that aha moment. Next when students come back or just make contact years later and relate how great my courses were for them and how they see how the subject is used in their "real" life, even though we worked on applications.
For me, my absolute love of engaging students in the classroom and passion for teaching in general are what motivates me continually, even when the semester reaches a peak and becomes incredibly busy. Knowing that I'll get to see these students and continue cultivating relationships with them as well as sparking their interest and engagement with the subject material is why I come to work every day!
For me, teaching is a noble sublime profession by itself. When added to it the fact that I served my lovely people for 33 years in my beloved country then my job has been more excellent than what I anticipated.
I have entered the retirement phase last month but I shall be always ready to teach more as long as I have the ability to do so.
Life in my country has been a hard one for so many years but the hardship is externally imposed & it was continuously put aside when there were lectures. My students & me have learnt to endure unrelenting difficulties each by his/her way knowing that we are in the same boat that faces adverse winds.

Among the numerous factors, enhancing the motivation of university lecturers, we should underline the following ones: desire for continuous self-improvement (lifelong learning), leadership, teacher autonomy, job security and transferability, institutional support, professional relations, opportunities to travel abroad and meet foreign colleagues, etc. However, the main motivating factor has always been the positive attitude of students.
Personal satisfaction I get when students show their enthusiasm for what they are doing/learning as well as their attitude trying to do their best to improve.
I like to share what little I know with my students. I also take pride in assisting them and motivating the students to excel in exploring our academic subject.
thanks all for the valuable answers. for me, I teach because I was born to be a teacher. I cannot think of another job. it is the passion of teaching, the sense of achievement after noticing that my students are applying what they've learned.
Education is like a seed. Needs time and care. When you find a former student, years later, in the street, you can see in his/her smile that your work is worthy. Regards.
It has to be the love of the classroom and the passion for the students. If it is just the pay check, the classroom experience will be ultimately just a process when it should be a passion.
