If a material has three absorption peaks like two in visible region (600-800 nm and 450-500 nm broad absorption peaks due to dopants) and the other in UV region (350 nm absorption edge of parent material)...and if I want to go for photocatalysis... which factors helps in degradation of dye..
1. particle size varying from 20-40 nm but highly agglomerated
2. light source (metal halide lamp for visible or UV source)
3. Dye like MB or Rh-B
4. Ph
which factor plays a prominent role for better dye degradation..
I assume you mean by material is a dye.Also,You provide neither type of photocatalyst, nor it,s morphology. In general, all four factors play an important roles in photocatalysis efficiency. As literatures reported, the band gap energy and morphology of photocatalyst can greatly affect the photocatalytic activity.
You can test the photocatalytic activity of your material in the visible range. Before that, you should check the recombination rate of the electron-hole pairs in your material during excitation. This is the only factor that suppresses the photocatalytic activity. Other than that, does not plays a major role in the catalytic activity.
