It depends on some factors such as your knowledge in design and if you know any other 3D software.
However, I think whatever is your background doing a free self video course on line is a good start.

- Start with drawing of several parts (like parts used to learn engineering drawing as first course in engineering schools)
- Move to assemble drawing of several components.
- Add standard components to the assembly.
- If required in your area to use surface modeling, you can see several educational videos on youtube.

How to learn any of the above:
1. Watch a few tutorials about [parts/drawings/assembly]
2. Design a few simple [p/d/a] - preferably try to design an already existing part/ assembly to replicate real solution.
3. Show your [p/d/s] to an expiernced solidworks user - let him correct you and teach you.
4. Repeat step 1 - 3 a few times.
5. Start designing more complicated [p/d/a]
6. Repeat step 5 inifinitely.
The first thing to know is the basic knowlege in graphical interpretation and basic engineering drawing. This will assist you to start using the software.
The first stage to learn is part drawing follow by the assembly drawing.
Last to present your design in various forms of standard in Engineering drawing is the last stage that is called "drawing" in SolidWorks. Here the size of paper, scale, title block, etc. are selected.
