Nowadays consumers don’t like being sold to, they want to do their own research, and they naturally view insurance companies with skepticism. Today’s consumer is used to instant, sophisticated, seamless shopping experiences. In this context search engine optimisation should be an important priority for the concern marketing department. And, Yes, social media is beneficial for insurance company. No, it’s not going to land tons of leads. That’s why I included it under “retaining existing policyholders.” By maintaining an active presence (and utilizing paid ads) that one can possibly stay top of mind and send subtle reminders about all the benefits you offer. In addition, there are three major reasons insurance agents don't get enough referrals: they don't ask, they don't keep in touch with clients, and they don't deserve them. Solve those three problems and it'll rain referrals.
I would say the use of direct marketing will replace the traditional mass advertising.
With the information companies gather about each potential customer, they can develop unique marketing message and the need for expensive mass advertising will no longer be necessary!
