Specifically does lysozyme (used in lysis buffer) or any other E.coli has non specific pectin methylesterase activity?

Also does the staining protocol itself cause non specific diffusion zones around the well?

Hello, t can be possible if your E. coli strain is recombinant which means expression in Escherichia coli of genes encoding pectin methylesterase activities from Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, there were available several strains with this activity. lysozyme can't have pectin methylesterase activities to act on pectin.
