I believe that the ENVI-MET software remains the most used and the most efficient. In fact, it allows to simulate any microclimate environment. In addition the new version offers several interesting features. Furtheremore it can be used in a different arrchitectures of computers.

I would like to know why you are searching for an alternative tool. I've been leading the development of Solene-microclimat that is almost only used by us but performs very well compared to Envi-met.

At present, we are writing a review paper and are quite unable to know exactly how envi-met calculates fluxes, what is for me the major limitation.

Thank you for your reply, i would like to know some alternatives for ENVI-met is really a good modeling tool, however, i am searching

_for less grid-size ( i would like to model grid less than 0.5 for more detailed analysis )

- calculate the overall energy consumption for building clusters without entering in the hassle of coupling with other tools such as design builder

- less simulation time and better visualization in interface and the outputs

Thank you Wesam, with solene-microclimat, we chose the grid but we only calculate the energy balance for 1 building.

There is citysim that could answer your requirments. There isn't a coupling with microclimate, but radiation is welle taken into account. One of my Ph.D student use it.

Dear Wesam,

We have coupled Solene with a mixed 1D-2D thermal model (SUSHI - Simulation in Urban Scene of Heat DIffusion) to compute heat exchanges and temperature distribution over roofs and facades at various spatial resolutions. The 1D model (based on thermal quadrupoles) is used for plain walls, whereas the 2D model (based on FE) is used in areas where thermal bridges are present.

I am following up on previous reponses Mohamed-Mourad Lafifi Marjorie Musy

If you want to evaluate urban forms at a large scale as well as calculate the energy consumption, you can indeed use the CitySim software. We have coupled it with CIM, to integrate the urban climate in the calculation of the energy demand. The advantage of this coupling is that you can run the simulations for one whole year, which is necessary for building design.
