I have been working on in-vitro and ex-vivo inflammatory models using TNFa and LPS, respectively, to challenge cells or tissues. I was just wondering what are the other methods to stimulate inflammatory response, especially for Caco-2 cells and colonic tissue explants?

It seems that the same group who published the article attached to your question has published another article on the same topic. I believe that they used the same method described in your attached paper. However, it is worth checking. herein the other paper:

The paper you mentioned from the same group is indeed another of my paper, describing the in-vitro and ex-vivo models we established. I am trying to use the same cells or tissues and try to establish another model, targeting some other inflammatory pathway.

I think that you can also use Zymosan, it is a glucan that induce proinflammatory responses, especially the increase of cytokines like IL17, IL4.
