Optimize your office space. Research shows a strong correlation between happiness and the layout of your office. Organized desks, plants, floor-to-ceiling windows with lots of natural light — these are just some of the design features that improve productivity in the workplace. Employees also value lots of space. Roomy offices, where staff can stand up to stretch or pace up and down while talking on the phone, provide lots of opportunities for physical activity.
The design of your office should encourage interaction among employees, too — something that boosts happiness and productivity. Open-plan environments foster communication between departments and strengthen relationships, for example. “For the most part, walls are unnecessary in an office environment, http://blog.idonethis.com/happiness-at-work/
Be a More Flexible Employer. Happy employees are more engaged at work, according to countless studies. Want to improve happiness in your own workplace? Make work-life balance a priority. Thirty-eight percent of employees in the United States have missed important life events because of a busy work schedule, while 60 percent of blame bosses for having a negative impact on their work-life balance. Flexi-time, work social events, more paid leave — all of these things result in happier, more productive employees. http://blog.idonethis.com/happiness-at-work/
Find joy in the little things. For most people, life consists of an accumulation of small moments. There are, of course, momentous events that occur in a person’s life that can precipitate a dramatic shift, changing direction, embarking on a new path. Still, everyday life goes on, populated with small, seemingly inconsequential moments. It is in the little things that you can find your joy and boost feelings of happiness. When you allow yourself to be joyful, it’s easier to find joy. While that may sound too good to be true, it works. Feel the deliciousness of descending into cool water in a lake on a hot day. Savor the aroma and taste of a favorite meal and enjoy the presence of loving family. These are the little things that are too often taken for granted, yet they are great contributors to happiness. https://psychcentral.com/lib/15-ways-to-increase-your-happiness/
Choose to be positive and see the best in every situation. A positive attitude is scientifically proven to increase happiness and well-being. How can you develop a positive attitude and learn to see the best in everything? It does take practice and a willingness to confront your fears and reject their power to control you. If you’ve always seen life as a glass half-empty proposition, turn that assumption around and strive to see situations as a glass half-full. Other research has found that positive emotions can even counteract the effects of adversity. https://psychcentral.com/lib/15-ways-to-increase-your-happiness/
Hassan Izzeddin Sarsak , in my opinion, try to do something which you like even if it is small everyday, but I'm not sure if there is research supporting that.
Happiness is an inward out construct which has some other aspects with it.
If happiness is an outwards inside experience it will then always depend on a lot of extraneous factors, therefore it will be always fleeting and temporary.
Though it may sound very idealistic and farfetched happiness is possible only when you are inspired and love what you do. Home or office are of little consequence. For example singers and dancers have vouched for this experience....a state of flow.
Make your bed. This three minute task is one of the simplest habits you can adopt to positively impact your happiness at home. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.apartmenttherapy.com/10-things-that-will-make-you-happier-at-home-174151%3famp=1
Before you get up each morning, set an intent for the day. In The Art of Happiness, the Dali Lama says “”Every day, think as you wake up: today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it.” Wow. What a wise man. I tend to wake up with a strong visceral reaction that says, “Attention human beings: Be afraid of me before coffee. Be very afraid!” Setting a daily intent makes a huge difference. Your daily intent could be something like “be productive” or “enjoy today’s delicious moments” or it could be something more specific like “say thank you to my loved ones today.” But it should not be another “to do” item on your list. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.apartmenttherapy.com/10-things-that-will-make-you-happier-at-home-174151%3famp=1
Do small favors for your housemates, expecting nothing in return. Not even a thank you! Mow the lawn for your husband, but don’t expect him to pat you on the back. Make the bed for your wife, but don’t try to get bonus points for it. Take the trash out for your roommate, just because. The ability to cultivate strong, healthy relationships is one of the biggest contributors to health and happiness, but when you start to keep score, the benefit is lost. (No! It’s YOUR turn to clean up the dog poop!) It’s a well-known fact: When you do good, you feel good. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.apartmenttherapy.com/10-things-that-will-make-you-happier-at-home-174151%3famp=1
Happiness comes from positivity. If one is positive on his work and accepts the work as meaning to live and create meaning of life through work then he would no doubt be happy. Negative and self-aggrandizement goals can never a man happy anywhere. Never develop any guilty feeling by performing half-hearted work. Perform work with full heart if you understand that work is meaningful to you and others.
In order to boost up happiness both at home and the workplace, we shall expect that the world is not as smooth as required. Considering this, we shall settle any problem that we encounter in the world of work and at home via negotiation and trade-off. Once it is settled, we should not bother about it. It is also important that the problems should be considered with some level of relaxation. I think these things will help us to enhance happiness at home and in the world of work.
The questioning of boosting happiness looks like a booster dose or health supplement which is a very superficial way of looking at happiness.
