Abstract

In this experiment, three microbial strains were inoculated in two different organic wastes to study their effect on the humic acids content, acid phosphatase activity and microbial properties of the final stabilized products. Pyrophosphate extract of vermicomposts were analyzed through polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to study the nature of a isozymes in different treatments. Results suggested that vermicomposting increased humic acids content and acid phosphatase activity in organic substrates and microbial inoculation further enhanced the rate of humification and enzyme activity. Although humic acids content in different microorganism-inoculated vermicomposts were statistically at par, acid phosphatase activity in these treatments was significantly (P

Responding from Indian experience; yes, Vermicompost can be inoculated.

Yes, value addition to not only vermicompost , can be done to other bulky manures as well using rhizocompetent microbes. It will be still interesting , whether or not , can we add some additional nutrients in order to make vermicompost or any other compost low in nutrient concentration , a much value added nutrient source alongside microbially inoculated..??

We have observed good results from inoculation of phosphate solubilizing microorganisms during vermicomposting without and with enrichment using rock phosphate.Inoculation of biopesticide microorganisms are also expected to work in vermicomposting. Only, they should not preferably be inoculated during initial stage of decomposition.

Yes, you can produce "vermicompost tea" and add the microbiological pool wanted, this mix can be inoculated as "biological ammenment". The microbiological diversification promotes an equilibrium of microbial populations decreasing the abundance of pathogenic organisms or the disponibility of ecological niche in soils.

Even such inoculation ca be achieved by mixing soil from fertile field as biological inoculant and rhizosphere soil from healthy trees in case perennial trees, in case of perennial trees...

Vermicompost itself contains diverse group of microorganisms and the load of added microbial inoculant should be good enough to execute the desired activity in soil. Thus, it is desirable to make soil or test crop seed inoculation with the specific microorganisms in conjunction with application of vermicompost.

Prior from the addition of earthworms during vermicomposting, vermicompost could be incorporated with supplemental fertile elements which might eventually contribute to the improvement in plant growth.

Interesting discussion. I have two quarries in mind to toss up further , how to regulate the nutrient value of vermicompost and secondly, how does nature of feedstock impact the nutrient values of vermicompost..??
