Please use single step chemistry only. If you look at studies on one-dimensional flames with single step chemistry, you will find asymptotic solutions described in the book by Forman Williams, for instance. This solution becomes increasingly accurate with increase in E/R for a single step reaction. Just compute the flame structure and the burning velocity and compare with the asymptotic solutions. that is a good test for your code. Non-premixed situations are less sensitive to chemistry. However, you may find in early studies only single step chemistry. You may find an early paper (1968) that you can download easily by going to my webpage at www.hsmukunda.in in the journals and others section and download the first article. If you can simulate the extinction curve, you have another validation.

Thanks for your response. Yes, my idea was also the same to validate using single step chemistry. However, in most of the text I came across, they were using methane combustion ( not detailed kinetics but still multistep ).

For your recommendation to compute burning velocity and compare with asymptotic or analytic expressions , what rate kinetics I should use ? That is what I am not able to find. Any recommendation would be helpful.

We're in the process of validating a new method for simulating reacting flows, and have been taking it step by step, starting from scratch only recently. The model may not be of interest to you, but the test cases should :

- [1] > 2D counterflow diffusion flame, 1 step, constant Cp

- [2] > 1D premixed flame, NASA Cp, detailed chemistry

- [2] > flame vortex interaction, 1 step

- more complex cases in subsequent publications
