Dear all,

My team is considering to establish a subcut xenograft model using U138 MG GBM cell line.

In a preliminary experiment, we observed a very slow tumour growth i.e 60 days to reach 100 mm3. The literature is very poor in describing studies in vivo and it seems that this cell line is more frequently used in vitro.

We bought the cell line from the ATCC which states in the documentation that the cell line does not induce tumorogenesis.

We used Balb/c nude mice. Do you think that changing to NOD/SCID for example could improve the tumour growth?

We injected 5x105 cells/mouse

I would appreciate your feedback if you have any previous experience with this cell line in vivo which confirm or not the validity to persue such validation of model in vivo.

Many thanks in advance

Sabrina
