Standard Definition (SD) TV lasted quite long. But we moved on to High Definition (HD) TV approximately around turn of the century and then to Ultra-High Definition (UHD) TV (4k & 8k systems) in a relatively short span of time, and they have already become common household items. Should we expect further increase in resolutions in near future, and are there any serious Research & Development efforts targeting this? Or, are we nearing/reaching a peak in terms of resolution? Also, for viewing by human eye, what would be a near-maximum resolution of screens desired beyond which the average human eye would not be able to resolve, perhaps?
