The AI tools should be used as assitants to traditional methods and not replacing them because they are in their infant stages, not yet matured enough. Bias and other ethical issues have not yet been investigated to a larger extent to support such possibilities as a result, some aspects may have siginficant gaps. I suggest more studies need to be conducted on this topic for more evidence.
Should AI replace human classrooms in ELT? This question has no easy answer. First, personalized pathways, instant feedback, and course coursework that is available outside classroom hours, and above all, these are all areas where artificial intelligence really shines. No artificial intelligence can ever replace the human elements that go into acquiring language, though it does have applications outside of the classroom for learning. It demonstrates the interpersonal contacts of the traditional classroom experience by adapting to cultural differences, getting involved emotionally with a class, and arranging dynamic fields for live dialogue. This is hard for AI to come close to replicating. It also lacks the features that involve empathy, creativity, and peer activities. AI would indeed augment traditional methodologies-in the repetitive tasks of a language learner, for example, collecting evidence, analyzing, and offering insights to pursue deliberate self-study through practice. An ideal model might involve mixing AI inputs for individualized skill building with classroom time reserved for in-depth communicative exercises. It will pose a potential risk of marginalizing learners unable to access technology and diminishing the social essence of the language. Balance, rather than replacement, ensures technology enhances without undermining the irreplaceable role of human educators.

Despite the title, Artificial Intelligence in Language Education isn’t just about exploring new AI tools or figuring out how to use them in the classroom. Our vision is broader: we aim to rethink what language education looks like in a world increasingly shaped by AI.
The goals of the project are the following:
Understand how teachers and learners are already engaging with AI in language education.
Develop a framework of guidelines to support the responsible and effective use of AI.
Create professional learning resources (primarily a Moodle course) to support teacher development...
At the heart of our framework are six guiding principles, which outline how the use of AI in language education should be...
Dear Professor Ljubomir jacić, Thank you very much for giving your time and contributions to enlight us for such an important and updated topic. I had the opportunity to read about the project, and I truly appreciate its forward-thinking vision—not just in terms of exploring AI tools, but in reimagining the future of language education in an AI-driven world. This initiative is of great importance, as it addresses a clear gap in current research and practice. By understanding how educators and learners are already engaging with AI, and by offering practical guidelines and professional learning resources such as the Moodle course, this project has the potential to set a strong foundation for responsible and effective AI integration in language education not only for the benefit of educators but also for the learners.
