I would like to distinguish the somatodendritic part of the inhibitory neurons in a hippocampal culture (where we expect to have 5-10% of GABAergic neurons). What are the best antibodies and staining conditions to label the somata of inhibitory neurons only? The standard VGAT antibodies (from SySy, doesn't matter from which species) label inhibitory presynapses beautifully, however to my surprise they fail to distinguish the somata of the inhibitory neurons where all those inhibitory presynaptic terminals arise from. Anyone else faced a similar problem?
