I have had problems with lucid dream. The nice thing about it is I can engineer my dream to go like what I want. Kind of relief sometimes. I stopped playing with it because it becomes annoying. I suffered from strange dreams in frame: I felt like I woke up then do my regulars until I notice something is wrong, I realized that I was still dreaming, so I woke up again, .... and again, .... and again. Exhausting ! I have this problems when I was under tremendous pressure or stress. Now I am enjoying my life and hardly experience it anymore.
Lucid dreaming is not just a concept, it is a fact. It occurs when for one reason or another the PFC is coming into the mix. It means that you are close to the waking state where the Prefrontal Cortex takes charge; at the same time some of the muscle inhibitory secretions are also reduced which creates a mix of waking and dreaming. Don't be fooled by the apparent freedom of choice you have in this mix. The notion of choice is embedded in the PFC which gives you the idea that you have a choice in the waking state. In reality you are as much a puppet on strings in waking as as in full-on dreaming. Please have this confirmed by my essay "To test or not to test", published in IJoDR University of Heidelberg. It might also be in Researchgate.
