The inequalities are ever higher and increasing. That is usually going to push for demand for greater opportunity and basic needs by those who lack it or dont have it at all especially. It is impossible to deny the conclusion's truth but it does not have to be the reality as much resources are available so that everyone can get a fair share. How this is going to happen is another story? Much research is available that is detailed in content but has never been applied in reality and if just that is achieved then much change can be made and seen. People involved in conflict don't need much. Basic needs and normal coexistence is what most need but of course a system would exist where they can cooperatively and competitively live together and overcome problems that they collectively face. Law is going to play a great role in defining the rules and regulations.

Integrative dialogue of experts of texts and contexts should be the way forward so that textual experts may scientifically share their knowhow while the contextual experts will enable proper understanding of the issues involved in areas. The experts of any type may be anyone who qualifies as an expert, whatever the ethnic, national, religious denomination. Much more can be said but the discussion may continue....

The increase in production is real, bringing down prices. Thus, the middle class is increasing, having assets unimaginable twenty years ago. On the other hand, there is greater access to education. As a result of these two factors, I see that the conflicts will be smaller and smaller - albeit inevitable.

Before talking about what needs to be done, I would suggest that everyone (or at least the great majority) who works on this issue find common understanding, definition, and measurement of what exactly we mean by “stability.” Indeed, do we mean by this concept “durability of a regime,” so that the dictatorial regime in North Korea, which was created around World War II, is as stable as the democratic regime in Germany and other places created at the same time? Or do we just mean “perception by the beholder," in line the definition and measurement endorsed by the World Bank team working on the World Governance Indicators?

Once we have these common understanding, definition, and measurement of “stability,” then we can make the claim that today’s “stability” (with the commonly accepted measurement) would be worse than yesterday’s “stability," or as you put it: "The world is hurtling into a period of great instability and increasing conflict." Otherwise, you can make our claim based (or not) on some evidence or criteria you have, I can make on the contrary the claim that the world has become more stable since the end of the Cold War.

In other words, the issue may just depend on how you define and measure "stability". These definition and measurement will allow you to make any claim you want, and also will tell you what needs to me done, because the causes or factors of worsening or betterment are already embedded in your definition and measurement.

What is to be done? IMHO the short answer is to recognize and heal the Mind/Body Split (MBS), a little known yet widespread affliction. It is characterized by a disconnect, or dissonant distortion between mind and body. It is a condition in which thinking is disconnected from feeling and sensation: thinking does not inform feelings/emotionality, and conversely feelings do not inform thinking.

The simplest example is in eating disorders: a 5' 10" anorexic woman may be starving at only 90 lbs,, but her self-image, her cognitive narrative is that she is over-weight. She eats not according to feelings of hunger or satiation, but in accord with her mental self-image.

Although my thesis is that MBS is fundamental to much, if not all psychological disorder, it is also fundamental to much 'normal' behavior, resulting in social dysfunction.

Since the body and its senses are the means by which we engage and interact with the world, if its senses, perceptions, and conceptions are disconnected from our mental and cognitive activities, then mind and thinking is disconnected from the reality of the world. This explains why in 'normal' political practice, politicians typically erroneously insist (intentionally or not) that reality conforms with their ideologies. This in contrast to creating policies that appropriately address real circumstances. Further, they gain much support for their unrealistic programs from their 'normal' supporters, even if the supporters are harmed or disadvantaged by those programs. In a real way, the greater acceptance of 'fake news,' and the inability to distinguish it is an indicator that MBS is operating and getting worse.

In this way, the MBS is fundamental to the unsustainability of modern culture, which is by any measure hurtling towards greater instability and conflict.

Climate Catastrophe ('Climate Change' is a meaningless label) is clearly the largest and most dangerous driver of social and environmental instability. Also affected is economic instability, further exacerbated by unsustainable financial institution activity in symbiotic relationship with governing and regulating entities.

Conflict in the USA is at a level many characterize as pre-civil war. However, unlike the last US Civil War, the conflict is not over a huge economic issue like the institution of slavery, it is over ideologies. It is a crazy conflict over ideas, psychic cognitions that are more destructive than helpful. It is as though it is simply a battle between Never Trumpers and Forever Trumpers.
