Hello, I'm doing a PBMC culture to study the effect of essential oils on the cytokines produced by the PBMC (PCR). In my Culture media i detect the presence of red blood.
Should I do something to eliminate them, or their presence does not affect the PBMC culture?

The contamination of PBMC with red blood cells is not a serious issue. RBC contamination does not interfere in culture and it dies in a few days provided the RBC contamination is low with good amount of PBMC in culture. No special treatment is needed.

There are red blood cell lysis buffers for this purpose on the market called ACK ( Ammonium-Chloride-Potassium) lysing buffer.
