We need to buy a new vibratome for making organotypic brain slices from mouse. i would like to hear your experience and suggestion. I also want to know if some had tried this compresstome Compresstome® VF-310-0Z , Thanks :)
I can give you suggestion for the following vibratome.
(3000 series, Evergreen Blvd-St. Louis, MO). If you are planning for for a 100-200μm sections.

Dear Sara, we are using the VF-300-0Z for organotypic mouse brain slices as well as acute brain slices for electrophysiology. We are generally happy with it, the only issue is that sometimes the tissue slices do not readily detach from the surrounding agar slices, which is rather annoying.
Hi Angela, Due to the current covid19 situation, i had to postpone the purchase of any new equipments as shipping services were expected to be affected. So, we are still using the manual chopper.
I’ve been a big time user of the Compresstome VF200 for acute brain slice ephys for many years. We also do P5-6 mouse brain slice cultures on a semi regular basis. I prefer to use a simple tissue chopper for the culture work. It is fast simple and effective. If it was better with the Compresstome I would use it Instead of a tissue chopper. Compresstome is my slicer of choice for adult brain slicing but not for P5-6 pups.
I am very happy to get your feedback @Jonathan, considering lock downs and the interrupted slice flow, i am using the manual chopper. And to be honest, we dont have any problem with it as you mentioned.
