I was tasks recently with designing a matrix to monitor productivity for building strictly soil terraces. I understand what terraces are for and are mainly used for agricultural purposes. I am trying to understand and find information on time it would take to build terraces. What kind of equipment is necessary for the job. I've got two excavators, three dump trucks, and one bull-dozer. I'm thinking about finding time to extract the soil from sites, fill dump trucks based on excavator experience, bucket size, and dump truck size. Then an average speed to get to the project site and dumping time. I'll need to add some time for dump trucks to reverse. Where I am stuck is figuring out time to build a terrace (I know that this can depend on design). I believe the design will be 3-4 meters wide and 1 meter high. So with a dozer and excavator, what kind of time per meter would I be looking at? I'd be basing this on an 8-hour work day with 6 of the hours actually be productive (8-SMH / 6-PMH).
Would like opinions or ideas on how "you" would go about something like this? Any information on terrace building time studies would be great as well. Any other time information that I should consider?
