Does anyone knows what is the best research method to measure surface layer in SLS technology (polyamide powder PA2200) - contact, optical or other methods?
It depends what is exact property of the surface layer you would like to know.
Microscopy may be an option where you have to look for the bond surface.
To compare this research results with previous made I am thinking to determine 2D and 3D surface parameters. Because of material characterization optical methods are ineffective. Contact methods are also not proper because they causes scratches on the surface.
In this case the method to consider would be hi-res CT scanner. This should be able to give you 3D structure of the details in the resolution you are looking for. The output will be in form of grayscale bitmaps that can be converted into STL file or viewed separately.
