Hello everybody. I want to create a simple contingency table with SPSS. The problem is that SPSS creates rows and columns alphabetically. E.g., I want Good, Bad, Ugly in that order, but SPSS will create Bad, Good, Ugly.
It is extremely irritating for simple risk analysis as everything is inverted. Obviously, I could put a,b,c, before each category but I don't see why this is happening. The variables are nominal.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

My opinion is that SPSS as a statistical program will not format the output to match all the writing styles. Researchers usually ask the SPSS to run the analysis for the data, and they took what they need from the output. Usually SPSS gives many things which we dont report in our final paper.
I believe SPSS by default order the the data alphabetically unless you add some prefix....a,b,c or 1,2,3. Just so you don't change the actual data you can just add values to the existing data and order them the way you want them to appear. Thanks!!!

It is very frustrating, as the video is very clear but whereas his results show the relative risk of getting cancer for smokers, mine show the risk of getting cancer for non smokers - i.e., the inverse. This is because NonSmoker comes before Smoker alphabetically.
