we need to identify phytophthora and verticilium species .. is ITS the only barecode to use? is it possible to identify at the species level this genus without sequencing? is there conventional PCR species specific primers to use ?
Mitochondrial genes COI, Cyt b and NADH are widely used for the purpose of DNA barcodes. Designing few sets of primers for above mentioned genes and validating them on closely related species might be a good idea.
