OK - we cannot find BME amino acid solution anywhere - it is backordered in the whole universe (or so it seems). Not to be deterred, we decided to make it ourselves at a 50X concentration. Unfortunately, many of the amino acids are not soluble in water - any advice hwo to get around that problem. We have tried warming the solution but not adding HCl or NaOH.

Camila Cuellar provided the answer. One needs to raise the pH of the solution of amino acids to pH 12.0 with 1 N NaOH and then, voila, all of the amino acids go into solution.

I'm happy to hear that you've solved problem about solubility of A.A. with pH arangements. I think you use this A.A. solution in your IVP procedures especially IVC stage... I want to know your results after usage of this solution instead of BME in IVP. In my opinion, you should use acid medium instead of basic... Because acid solution can possitively arrange of amino "acid" transport in cells or blastomeres compared with basic solutions. Because pK also important for this kind of substrates... It is only my opinion based on biochemistry.
