It can be model in other software quite easily than MATLAB, like HOMER, Ret screen. But your interest is in MATLAB. I suggest you to install MATLAB 2015. In 2015, same model is present by default. Otherwise attached file helps you for further information.
HOMER is the best tool to simulate such kind of works. However, it is difficult to get research paper publication by using only HOMER. However, results can be validated through it. I would like to advise you to use MATLAB programming (not toolbox) and velidate the results with HOMER. If your MATLAB results will be better than that, you can easily get publication.
