If I may add, the magnitude for a+bi would be sqrt(a^2+b^2). Your example is 1/sqrt(2) + 1/sqrt(2)*i. So, the magnitude would be sqrt(0.5+0.5) = 1. The maximum magnitude of the noise would thus be 10/SNRlin = 1/10 = 0.1.

Hence, the noise can be 0.1, 0.1i or any c+d*i where sqrt(c^2+d^2)=0.1.
