Duration: 2 months, no pain but a little itchy, no response to antibiotics.
When I saw this, I was thinking it could be Molluscum Contagiosum (MC). But I am not sure because I have no clinical experience in this. If he had another lesion somewhere else on the body, or the shape of the lesion on the shaft would be more typical, I would be sure that it is MC, but there are only these two bumps. Perhaps someone can provide some better ideas or suggestions?
Scabies would be a possibility. The post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and papular appearance with no umbilication would make molluscum a bit unlikely. Were there any other lesions anywhere else suggestive of scabies?
Thank you for your good suggestion. There was no other lesions though. Hyperpigmentation after tick bite inflammation makes sense but is it possible to have scabies when there's no pubic hair? Cause I thought scabies are parasitizing along the hair follicles.
For Sarcoptes scabeii, the mite causing scabeis, hair is not needed. They burrow into the stratum corneum in warm body parts - finger and toe web spaces, any body folds including genital area. It is not uncommon to have lesions of scabies exclusively in the genital area- not sure about children but I have seen several adult cases
Scabies it looks like, confirmed if there is any itch at night, involvement of finger web spaces.
Thank you for both of you. The mother said she has similar lesion on her dorsal surface of the fingers as well. I asked her to get some medical care about it by some dermatologic specialists. Suprised by the newsthat it might be scabies infection, she has mentioned that two doctors she visited earlier never thought it looks scabies. I guess it can be hard to diagnose the disease just because there are not many cases now.
