I am modeling indentation of a film on a soft substrate, the indenter is analytical rigid and interaction is surface to surface, I indent the film and in unloading step there is a slave surface breaking and "some" nodes pull up with the indenter, Would you please help me with this strange behavior?
I am glad to provide you with an explanation; however, I have never simulated such kind of simulations.

I suspect that this is due to the behaviour of second-order elements (which you seem to have) in contact where the contact forces under uniform pressure may not be uniform. (See also the getting started menu section 12.4.5 in my edition)
To check whether this may be the problem, switch to 1st-order elements (but be aware that they have other problems like shear locking/hourglassing).
Thank you so much, Martin, I changed the mesh type, however, I got the oscillation, i changed everything interaction, load, mesh type, so i came back to the material properties and solved the problem (after two nights working on it). so this is my new question, what is the best way to define material properties since abaqus doesnt recognize scale, i mean what shoud be my material properties if my scale is in nanometer?
