Hello
I'm looking for a simple spectrophotometric method for total carotenoid content estimation in different solvents (i.e. methanol, acetonitrile, acetone, dichloromethane and combinations of them). The extracts are acquired mainly from wheat.
I have found multiple methods which are either valid only for acetone extracts or require evaporating solvents and saponification.
The method does not have to be very precise - I'm looking only for a quick screening to decide which extracts to analyse using HPLC.

Thank you very much George, it's a very good starting point. Have you ever encountered similar protocols for dichloromethane or acetonitrile?
Unfortunately, I have not any relevant protocols.
