Hello, I am looking for simple equation for peak capacity in heart-cutting off-line 2D HPLC system? I believe it should be expressed as a sum of peak capacities (from all 2nd dimensional separations?). So far I've found complicated equations, but I know there is also a simpler way to calculate it.
Maybe you could suggest me a publication in which such equation is included?

I am just wondering - if in the established off-line LC-LC each fractin is separated under isocratic conitions - what about tG parameter in these formulas? Should it be replaced by the 2nd dimension separation time (for each fraciton off-course) ? Or - maybe - I am wrong and in such case use of these formulas is inadvisable?
Since capacity is column dependent, I would calculate capacity for each dimension (column). To express total capacity for 2D, you could multiply them (nc1 x nc2), as when orthogonal methods are used, we multiply them. Though the result obtained is usually inaccurate due to undersampling.
*BTW: In my lab, we perform 2D LC inline, not offline using a special multidimensional column switching system which when coupled to a well developed method, allows you to perform heart-cutting, fractionation, purification or enrichment without collecting fractions and re-injecting them.
