After reading an interesting article Wallace J, Goldsmith-Pinkham P, Schwartz JL. Excess Death Rates for Republican and Democratic Registered Voters in Florida and Ohio During the COVID-19 Pandemic. JAMA Intern Med. 2023;183(9):916–923. doi:10.1001/jamainternmed.2023.1154, I rethought my old results. Help me confirm/reject one of the hypotheses of my Citizen Science research. I am not a political scientist and I admit that my results may be the result of a methodological error.
From the little information I see, I say No. However, I do not feel like an independent expert, I feel like I am a pattern recognition software looking at to colour maps. I looked at blue states and saw they have so much variety, they have every part of the covid spectrum. I would not do this country-level comparison anyway. I would set up comparability criteria on the level of electoral districts, and only compare those which meet these.
Dear Viktor, I completely agree with your arguments. A researcher's impression can become a scientific fact if it is supported by the scientific community.
