Please can anyone tell me whether there is any software for semiconductor simulation other than the TCAD for semiconductor simulation?
You may consider using:
1. For Commercial Applications: Silvaco, Sentaurus, NanoTCAD
2. Freeware: Best is nanoHub
so far i'm using a 2D energy-balance model using COMSOL® software (previously FEMLAB).
Sentaurus, & NanoTCAD are popular licensed one for basic semiconductor simulation.
Firstly, what do you need to simulate? 1D, 2D, 3D? Are quantum effects going to be considered? What are the operation conditions you must study?
I'm using TCAD package for many years. It has a few drawbacks, but I think it is recommendable It has a lot of possibilities. In one package, you can simulate device from the stage of the technology by the physics of the phenomena to mixed simulate.
Others packages are: MEDICI, ATLAS.
