There is no particular reason why a species of bacteria that makes an antibiotic should be resistant to unrelated antibiotics. It is probably resistant to the antibiotic it makes.

Just go ahead isolate or purify the two antibiotics, then test them against other microbes (bacteria). I think you were trying to identify these antibiotic by comparison with other u have used against your marine isolates, here I agree with Adam's answer.

In The nature, in any bacterial population, the later is consist of the majority of sensitive ones and the minority are the resistant ones. When this population is exposed to antibiotics which act a selective pressure, the sensitive ones will be inhibited and the resistant one will be emerged. It may have some significance. You have isolates of marine bacteria. you can identify their antimicrobial products. It will help you to find out their sensitivity against various bacteria and can create a spectrum with their mode of action.
