Should I use forward or reverse strand for finding mutation in a gene via CRISPR experiments?

I am trying to knock down a gene in soybean (Indian cultivar). After sequencing the genomic DNA from leaves, I am getting 97% similarity between forward seq and ref seq from NCBI whereas only 82% similarity between reverse strand and ref sequence. Which one should I use for further experiments.

Use the forward seq since it has a higher percentage similarity when compared to the ref seq from NCBI
