My supervisor suggested me that I should re-spot the white colonies in new plate after performing first blue-white screening. This step allows white colonies to develop the color of colonies perfectly. Can I skip this step? Or is this step crucial/usually performed by many researchers? Can you give me the supporting references? Thank you

A trick that works well with blue/white screening is to put your plates in the refrigerator (4C) for about 8 hours to overnight. The blue colonies will become more blue and any suspect white colonies will turn blue. The true white ones will stay white. It is much easier than re-spotting and it saves time.
